MY STORY - HOW IT ALL STARTED

It all started with one spontaneous decision

Some of life's biggest turning points often begin with the smallest, most unexpected decisions.

Mine began on an ordinary afternoon in 2009...

Like many women, I was wearing all the hats. I worked as a psychotherapist, was building my own business, and raising three young children. My days were a blur of client sessions, school lunches, laundry baskets, bedtime stories, and chasing after a puppy with far more energy than the rest of the family combined.

One ordinary afternoon, I found myself alone in a shopping centre, something that rarely happened in those busy years. With bags full of groceries, I was walking back to my car when something unexpected happened.

It felt as though an invisible force pulled me into a camera shop. And almost like I was watching myself from the outside, I saw my finger point to a random digital camera and the words, “I’ll take that one” slipped out of my mouth. A few minutes later, I walked out carrying a Sony Alpha A200 DSLR with a 18-55mm lens.

On the drive home, I had a full-blown panic attack. I’d just spent my last savings on a camera, without ever having planned of owning one. It was an impulsive act I didn’t understand at the time, and I had no idea how I was going to explain it to my husband.

So when I got home, I hid the camera in the back of my wardrobe, together with my guilt and embarrassment. Out of sight, out of mind, right.

A month later, someone I deeply loved, passed away. It was sudden and unexpected. In the midst of my grief, I felt an urge to take out the camera. I knew nothing about photography. I didn’t know how to adjust the settings. I didn't know about good light, the rules of third or compositions. But I started taking pictures anyway. The camera became tiny pauses from the pain I felt.

Without realising it, photography became my way back to myself. It gave my mind somewhere peaceful to rest. It taught me to notice beauty again, even in the middle of heartbreak. It invited me outside, into nature, into light, and into the quiet moments that slowly helped me heal.

One year later, I left my career as a therapist and became a full time photographer.

Since then, my camera has taken me on countless adventures. I've photographed everything from portraits, travel, and interiors to food, flowers, still life, and everyday moments of beauty. My photographs and articles have been featured in numerous international magazines, and for the past 17 years I've hosted courses and workshops that has inspired women in more than 40+ countries to discover the joy of creating.

My work has always been a blend of two worlds, my background in psychology, mindfulness, and personal growth, woven together with photography, creativity, and artistic expression.

What fascinates me most isn’t simply how to capture beautiful photographs.

  • It’s how creativity can heal us.
  • How photography allows us to truly see.
  • How making something with our hands can quiet the noise in our minds.
  • How paying attention to beauty can gently bring us back to ourselves.

That is the heart of everything I share ❤️

My hope is that through photography, creativity, and mindful living, you'll not only learn to create beautiful images, but also rediscover your own creative voice, trust your unique way of seeing, and create a life that feels deeply your own.

Because sometimes... all it takes is one small, unexpected moment to change the direction of your life.
