Imaginary Spring

Photographer Christina Greve

As a child I spend countless of hours day-dreaming, creating imaginary worlds in which dreams always came true. In that world it was always Summer, I was a princess (of course), people were happy and kind – in fact people were dancing in the streets….

I remember that withdrawing into my imagination gave me a lot of inspiration, joy and energy, that kept me going in the real world.

Still today; dreams and creativity is what fuels me and nurture my soul. I don´t see it as a need to escape reality, because I love my life. I see it as my power-engine – this is were I get my motivation and determination from.

For me photography and day-dreaming is pretty much the same. Today I create my own world, not only in my mind but also in my images.

This morning I woke up to yet another round of snow! I´m done with snow – I want Spring to pop up and say hello! So I decided to photograph spring flowers, photograph them in some wonderful natural light and make it bright and shiny!

It worked instantly; I forgot all about the snow and the cold outside :-)

Below you can see my simple set up – this is my mini-studio/corner in the living room, were I photograph most of my still life + food photography. The light is coming from a big window on the right and I mix the daylight with medium sized white reflectors. Simple and effective – gives pretty, clean and soft white light, which is what I love.

Great portrait of the spring flowers, Christina!

We wait desperately for the first harbingers of spring outside in the nature. But: We got snow again over the night. It was snowing all night and morning long – and now all the white slendour is melting down.. ;-(

Enjoy your work week at home in your mini studio – and please surprise us with some more spring fever… ;-)
