Embrace the power of positive thinking

Positive thinking has the power to change your life. I´m sure you know this already – but knowing is one thing – doing is a whole other story, right.

The fact is, you and I we all have a wish to be positive thinkers, and to have a positive outlook on life and on our self. But even though it´s our attention we easily get distracted with our negative thinking, our concerns and our worries. That´s just human behavior.

Negative thinking has a way of taking over when you forget, that you are the boss of your own thoughts. When you simply follow all your thoughts without questioning them.

Your mind is an amazing thinking machine, that holds all the power, to live a wonderful life. Your mind and thoughts, if used right, can help you feel confident, strong, happy and to achieve your wildest dreams. But first you must train yourself to take leadership of your own mind.

It´s time for you to embrace the power of positive thinking.

Step 1: Find your positive power sentences

To do this, I want you to write down 10-20 positive sentences that you´d love to have running through your mind on a daily basis. When you´re done I want you to pick out the five sentences that speak the most to you – that you react the most to. Write those five down on a piece of paper and hang it up on your board/wall for you to look at. Say them out loud every morning and every evening – practice them until you can say them in your sleep.

A few examples:

“No matter what life throws my way,  I´m able to stay optimistic “

“Being a positive thinker is an important part of who I am”

“I am in control of my own thinking, I consciously choose what I think”

“I choose to look at the world in the bright, healthy light of optimism”

“I choose to love and respect myself”

The key to change your mindset is repetition, it´s focus, it´s having those sentences in the top of your conscious mind. Think of it as programing a computer, now you´re programing or re-programing your mind.

Step 2: Set up a weekly meeting with yourself

Every Friday afternoon, I sit down with my favorite notebook and I think about what I am thankful for from the week. I write it down – just a few lines. I also ask myself what steps can I take next week, that will help move me in the direction of happiness. I enjoy a cup of coffee while I do this, maybe even a glass of wine, and notice the ideas that come to me. I write them down and if necessary I put them in my calendar.

Find a moment every week to do this process with yourself. Do it in the evening after the kids have gone to sleep or do it Sunday morning in bed while enjoying a fresh smoothie. The key is to find a weekly time-out for you to have this meeting with yourself. I promise it will help you shift your focus and become the boss of your own mind!

The combination of step one and step two will help you develop some awesome positive thinking – enjoy :-)

Much Love, Christina
